The Sacrifice

When real estate agents express to me that they are eager to grow their businesses, the great news is this . . .

We don’t set off to do something we cannot see as possible for ourselves!

In other words, when you see a future vision of yourself or you set a goal to achieve, you are identifying what is possible for yourself. This is so powerful!

So if the future pull of one’s evolution is a reality waiting to happen, then why in the world do people struggle to fulfill their visions?

Well, in a simple way, it boils down to the first law of energy: The Law of Conservation of Energy. This law states that energy can neither be created nor destroyed; energy can only be transferred or changed from one form to another.

Ok, what does this have to do with growth in real estate, right?

It’s this. If we want different results, we have to do different things. If we want different things, we have to have different thoughts.

New thoughts. New actions.

Sounds energizing! Sounds exciting! Sounds fresh and new!

And that is exactly what real estate agents feel when they attend trainings. They hear great ideas and are eager to try things. They are inspired by new ways of thinking. And they are energized by models of how to implement.

So once again, why do things not fundamentally change?

The law of energy signals to us that if we are to adopt new thoughts and take new actions, other thoughts and actions must be eliminated. This seems so obvious however, people are deeply reluctant to let go of beliefs and habitual behaviors that follow.

As an example, what I frequently hear in coaching is that an agent will have a great new idea. The agent will go into the office and tell the staff that they are going to start doing this new idea right away. Unfortunately, the agent doesn’t realize that the staff is already tapped—working full time on many other actions during the day. And, by the way, the agent needs to theoretically participate in this new idea and he/she has not considered how his/her time will be tapped as well.

So, either the agent and staff will have to stop doing something else to make room/energy for the new endeavor, or new hires must be added (energy transferred to the business) in order for growth to occur.

We must sacrifice to gain.

We must let go in order to make space for new.

Everything starts with the sacrifice of thoughts. What beliefs are you currently holding that are limiting your growth?

We usually think of sacrifice as negative when in fact, it’s simply a transfer of energy.

Working on limiting beliefs is a vital part of what we do in coaching. It’s how our top producers are doubling and tripling their businesses. Reach out to us at Agent+ if you are ready to do the work of growth! We are passionate about guiding agents to their next level.
